Eyes on the Internet: the disgusting horror art of the creative genius Black Russian (18+)

It’s become fashionable to shit on Reddit lately. And, to be fair, for good reason.

And yet, I still find myself hanging around on Reddit, mainly because of its topic-based structure: subreddits. Unlike Instagram’s feed, they actually allow me to filter content based on my interests.

Naturally, the horror subreddit was a must. You know me. It was actually on r/horrorcomics that I discovered Ruslan, an artist as disturbing as he is driven by a seemingly inexhaustible, twisted imagination.

Ruslan does horror, and he does it damn well. With Eyes on the Internet, I’m telling you about him in a shorter format than usual.

Hello Ruslan, nice to have you here on the Magazine. First of all, could you introduce yourself to our readers and tell us a little about your work?

Hello! My name is Ruslan Aksenov. Since July 2026, I’ve been writing and drawing short horror comics (8 pages including the cover) in Procreate.

I discovered your work on Reddit and was really impressed by the sheer volume of short comics you’ve created, as well as the creativity behind each and every one of them. Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Most of my ideas come from observations of everyday life, and sometimes I make horror parodies of cartoons or TV shows from my childhood. I draw pretty quickly because I have a lot of experience with ink and acrylic painting. I don’t use references, and sometimes I don’t even do a preliminary sketch. If I have the time, I can go from an idea to a finished comic and the English translation in a single day. If I were drawing realistically, it would obviously take much longer.

What does horror mean to you?

The cruelty of people and my own helplessness. Monsters don’t scare me.

Do you have any big projects coming up, or anything exciting you’re currently working on?

For now, I’m just drawing stories, and I’d like to put together a collection and maybe print it someday.

Could you tell us about your biggest influences and recommend a few things for our readers to check out, whether they’re books, comics, films, or anything else you love?

I’m from the VHS generation. Old horror and sci-fi movies, heavy music. Slipknot and Mudvayne influenced me musically. As for movies, I recommend the newer body horror films by Brandon Cronenberg and Julia Ducournau, “Obsession”, and “The Ugly Stepsister” . There’s a lot of interesting stuff coming out these days.

Finally, out of all the comics you’ve created, which one are you most proud of, and why?

I really like my parody “Hey, Mutant!” . I developed the story as I drew the panels, and it turned out genuinely creepy 🙂

Well, why don’t we read it together, then?

A ragion veduta.
